RETHINKING GODLY LEADERSHIP

RETHINKING GODLY LEADERSHIP

It was an awesome day, February 3, 2020.  We were officially announced as the special guests of Deputy Speaker of the House, Bishop Brother Eddie Villanueva.  In the audience was a host of special guests including Bishop Leo Aloconga, Bishop Noel Pantoja, Attorney Ramoncito and Esther Ocampo, Dr. Willie and Ellen Isip and several hundred JIL leaders from the Metro Manila area.

Deputy Speaker Brother Eddie Villanueva was set to present a privileged address on the importance of the Bible in the foundation of a nation.  He was given approximately 30 minutes for the speech and 30 minutes for Q&A.

He did not hold back worrying about politically correctness.  He spoke as an oracle of God and it went to 45 minutes before his conclusion.  During the Q&A time, we thought the questions would be combative and negative.  But to our surprise the questioning was very supportive.  Because there were several set to ask questions, the time was extended one hour.  The 2nd hour as Bishop Eddie answered questions, it felt like we were in church and he was giving a message. As  the Congressmen came forward they asked relevant questions that gave Brother Eddie more opportunities to share the plan of salvation, repentance, prayer, heaven and hell and the importance of the Bible in the home.

It concluded 2 1/2 hours later.  Never in the history of the Philippine Congress has 2 1/2 hours been devoted to the important of the God's word, the Bible.

As we think about leadership, great leadership is godly leadership that makes a difference in our churches, our cities, our towns and nation.  Godly leadership is what God is looking for in His leaders.

If you see a man or women who is taking the heat for standing up for Biblical principles in the public arena, we need to pray and support that individual no matter what party or what religious denomination he/she is from.   In heaven there is no section for Pentecostals, Baptists, Catholics, Methodists etc.  There is only one section and that is for believers.

As we think about godly leadership do not look at the denomination.  Godly leaders are arising from every denomination and every nation.  America does not hold the top spot for godly leadership.  America is the nation that inspire the world to accept the Holy Spirit move of God which is the catalyst for the growth and expansion of the church worldwide beginning in Wales and going west to California and from California to the world notably, Asia and Africa.  The fruit of this 100 year evangelistic missionary adventure is that today, godly leaders are being raised in all the nations of the world.

I Samuel 16:17, "But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him; for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart."

Can we see beyond the rough edges and see a man's heart?  We can by his fruit and actions.

I believe President Trump and Vice President Pence are godly leaders because they have publicly done the most political incorrect thing to do, they give thanks and honor to God and His son, Jesus Christ.  They re-instituted permission to say, "Merry Christmas."  They called for a National Day of Prayer when the Corona Virus hit the USA.  This is not ordinary leadership.  This is godly leadership who remembers that  "the battle is not ours, but Gods," and "with God all things are possible."

So during this time of "sheltering in place," let's keep our leaders in our prayers, our Pastors who have to endure many things you will never know.  Our leaders who have such a great burden on their shoulder, the welfare of the 360,000,000 American people.  For me, I am very thankful that we have Donald Trump as our President for such a time as this!   Dr. Mike and Adelle McKinney
